Director of Sales

Department: Marketing

The Director of Sales is responsible for developing and executing a clearly articulated sales strategy that is completely in sync with both the market and the business.
The role is responsible for establishing a strategy for maximising revenue and developing the talent of the sales team.
The position plays an integral role in the business.

The DOS must embrace five key philosophies:

1. Represent the customer's voice in the market.
2. Be the champion of the zoo value proposition.
3. Own revenue maximisation.
4. Be the key partnership steward.
5. Be an integrator of synergy and leverage across the business.

Develop better sales skills within the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Determine the annual revenue plans by implementing sales strategies; analysing trends and results.
• Establish sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for regions and territories; projecting expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products.
• Implements pull and push sales partnership programs.
• Establishing a corporate partnership program.
• Maintains sales volume, product mix, and selling price by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors.
• Establish product and pricing recommendations by monitoring costs, competition, and supply and demand.
• Team governance by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
• Ensure promotional and event programs are well sponsored and provide ROI.
• Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Achieve agreed KPI's and ensure that performance is measured, monitored and communicated effectively and efficiently.
• Implement the programs to secure relevant insights for real marketing decisions.
• Lead improvement and mitigation strategies to calibrate to the evolving conditions.
• Coach and mentor and improve the team's ability to deliver and ensure succession.
• Engage and communicate key messages to the senior executive team.
• Work in collaboration with all business divisions to establish a team approach driven towards mutual success.

Knowledge & Technical Skills

Have the ability to meet Sales Goals, negotiate, sell to the customer's needs, high level of motivation for sales, sales planning, building relationships, coaching, managing processes, market knowledge, developing budgets and staff management.
• Advance knowledge of sales and marketing strategy
• Advanced knowledge MS: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Ability to manage and lead multiple projects from inception to completion
• Passion, integrity and energy
• Extensive experience in similar marketing roles at a similar level.
• Suitable tertiary qualifications.
• Track record or performance.
• Strong analytical, strategic and financial acumen.
• Excellent communication skills, in particular negotiations.
• Customer orientation.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and agendas.
• Capacity to deliver to budget and timeframe.
• Proven record.
• Knowledge of industry and sector.

Essential Criteria

• Advance knowledge of sales and marketing strategy
• Advanced knowledge MS: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Ability to manage and lead multiple projects from inception to completion
• Passion, integrity and energy

Preferred Criteria

• Current 1st Aid qualifications
• Any other relevant certificates involving Leadership, Training, WHS
