Fundraising and Events Manager - Full time (Maternity contract)

Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced Fundraising Manager to temporarily join the team.

Within this full time maternity role, the Fundraising Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors fundraising programs focusing on positive financial outcomes for the organisation. This position is responsible for ensuring the major Wildlife Warriors Projects including major events and campaigns in Australia and supporting the U.S are effectively delivered to meet budget whilst adhering with brand, culture and ensuring there is a strong alignment with Wildlife Warriors strategic plans. 

This role requires excellent attention to detail and financial acumen, strong communication skills and ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines.

KEY RESOPNSIBILITIES

 

  • Oversee the operational aspects of the programs to ensure the delivery of high quality events and activities that meet budget and strengthen the Wildlife Warriors brand.
  • Develop and execute program plans including project management of events, sponsors, stakeholders, communications plans and stewardship.

  • Ability to lead a team of four in the absence of the Director of Development including managing workflows, projects and culture.
  • Provide leadership across all communications efforts, leveraging the charity's strong relationships, focused mission and well-known brand.
  • Generate and maintain sustainable revenue and key partnerships with sponsors, supporters and ambassadors.
  • Ensure that donors of all levels experience high-quality interactions that foster long-term engagement and investment.
  • Fundraising practice: 
  • Significant fundraising credentials with proven track record of achieving strategic and operational objectives
  • Practical experience in the development, management and implementation of fundraising programs and projects
  • Previous experience and knowledge of use and maintenance of database applications. (in particular fundraising databases)
  • Leadership skills: Ability to clearly and influentially articulate a vision, and encourages and supports others.  Practices open communication, leads by example and effectives provides honest and constructive feedback.
  • Project management skills: demonstrated ability to implement project plans and timelines, regularly communicate with stakeholders, and monitor project progress and budget.
  • Interpersonal skills:  Demonstrated ability to liaise and negotiate with all levels of staff and people in a wide range of business and community settings
  • Written and verbal communication skills: Demonstrated ability to communicate across a range of mediums which includes public speaking, verbal and written presentations, proposals and correspondence. 
  • Computer skills: Understanding of contemporary computer programs and fundraising data base software, specifically:
  • Competent usage of MS Outlook (email and task scheduling) and MS Word
  • Competent MS Excel capability (report generation; create / edit basic spreadsheet formats and formulas)

 


ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Experience as a non-profit fundraising professional with supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience managing major fundraising programs.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with fundraising best practices and current and emerging applications of technology for fundraising implementation.
  • Proven track record of stakeholder and sponsorship management.
  • Broad experience in fundraising including online appeals, community fundraising, major events.
  • Understanding of budgets and targets and proven track record of meeting budgets
  • An understanding of what motivates current and prospective donors to respond to fundraising appeals and campaigns.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise and negotiate with all levels of staff and people in a wide range of business and community settings
  • Understanding of contemporary fundraising practice in particular digital campaigns
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Solution-oriented approach to facing challenges and ability to work well under pressure including manage multiple deadlines and complex schedules.
  • Passionate about the mission of Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors.
  • As this role requires continuous improvement of processes and procedures, we require a demonstrated ability to maintain and promote a flexible and positive approach to change.
