Harriet the Giant Galapagos Land Tortoise was taken from the Galapagos Islands by explorer and biologist Charles Darwin when he wrote the Theory of Evolution. Harriet is 173 years old and is the oldest known Galapagos tortoise alive. Harriet now resides at the Australia Zoo. Pictured with Harriet are Adam Smith, David Harper, Alec Smith and Rachel Smith from Maryborough. The latest edition to Steve Irwin’s theme park is the ‘Crocoseum’, which will hold up to 7000 people, and will be the centre stage for all the crocodile demonstrations, due to be completed by December.
