The Building services team is an amazing group of blokes with a huge skill base due to their diverse backgrounds. This combination of blokes has lead to a team that can handle any situation and is responsible for the construction of the most innovative and amazing Zoo in the world. The building services team handles everything from metal fabrication, fencing, landscaping, sculpture and design, painting, plumbing, earth moving, you name it we do it. These blokes do great work and have a great time doing it. The Building Services team is split into several groups.
David
Fleet & Property Maintenance Coordinator
David started work at Australia Zoo in December 2004. David along with his wife and three dogs moved from Victoria to enjoy the lifestyle that the Sunshine Coast has to offer.
David believes that Australia Zoo is the greatest way to teach people about conservation. When away from work David enjoys relaxing with his family and also enjoys sports including motor sports and AFL.
Simon
Purchasing CoOrdinator
Simon joined the Zoo Crew in August 2015. Simon brings a wealth of knowlegde with a background in project engineering, from sales to estimation and purchasing.
Outside of the Zoo Simon enjoys camping with family and friends, watching the Roosters win in the NRL, and going to the beach.
Che
General Labourer
Che started work in 2002 as a part of the construction team, helping to build some of the amazing new attractions of the Zoo, such as the Crocoseum. Che had always wanted to work with animals, especially tigers, so was quick to apply for a position in the Big Cat team. "Not a day goes by that I don't enjoy coming to work. Tigers are amazing animals and it's a great opportunity having such a rewarding relationship with these majestic cats".
Che has been with the Tigers from December 2003 to August 2016, so he has had an awesome relationship with each and every cat. Che helped make the Big Cat section what it is today "I hope to continue the great conservation work we have achieved here at Australia Zoo since we have had the Tigers. I hope that all species of Tigers will still be around in years to come."
Stephen
Building Services Supervisor
'Two Litre' (Steve) is a chippy here at the Zoo and is doing a great job. He's certainly a bit of a larrikin and loves a good joke. Born in England, Steve moved to Australia while still a young fella so we don't hold it against him. Being an ex-pat Englishman he likes his cricket but loves that strange game he calls football (soccer).Michael
Labourer/Construction
Michael joined the Zoo crew in Dec 2015. His favourite animals are the Dingo's.

Wayne
Maintenance
Wayne moved up from Sydney and started at Australia Zoo in April 2007. With a background in Maintenance at the Sydney Casino, Wayne is used to the busy schedule and is always happy to help out everyone. At the Zoo his skills sure come in handy. On his time off Wayne enjoys spending time with this family and his 3 year old son, weather it be down at the beach or in the bush where he enjoys mountain bike riding.
Bill
Stores Officer
Bill joined the Zoo accounts team in 2004 coming from a banking background, and since then, has seen the Zoo expand immensely. In March 2014, Bill moved into the Building Team as Stores Coordinator.
When not collating figures at his desk during the day, Bill enjoys visiting the bird aviary and small clawed asian otters where you can enjoy close interaction with the animals.
When the weekend arrives he enjoys keeping an eye on all the weekend sporting events especially the Rugby League and MotoGP.
Ty
Welder
Ty joined the Zoo Crew in June 2017. He was raised on a ranch and has spent his life farming. He loves the atmosphere at the Zoo and the positive environment surrounding him.
