Smoking wallabies! The fun never stops at Australia Zoo. The roving entertainment crew contributes to the excitement of all patrons at Australia Zoo through hilarious skits and surprising characters.
On promotional days Australia Zoo has extra entertainment and the department plays a key role in excellent customer service and promotion of the Australia Zoo motto - Conservation Through Exciting Education.
It has been noted that ALL patrons visiting the zoo will in some way be an audience for our Entertainment crew. During your visit you could find these larrikins greeting customers dressed as one of our many costume characters... These characters make an impression on all patrons and aim to provide comical stints for the enjoyment of all.
This amazing team also rove our animals around the Zoo including cuddly Koalas, waddling Wombats, terrific Tasmanian Devils, pretty Possums, dynamic Dingoes, brilliant Blue Tongues and Shingleback Skinks, baby American Alligators and crazy Cockatoos!
Not only will you see them up close and personal, you even get the chance to take it one step further and have your photo taken while you pat any one of our amazing critters!
Be sure to look out for them on your next visit to Australia Zoo. We hope to see you soon!
Head of Department
As a Rover, Becky-Jo is a valuable member of the team. She is a contributor to all aspects of the department and her enthusiasm, hard work and willingness to learn is appreciated.
Becky-Jo began at Australia Zoo in June 2003 as a volunteer whilst still attending high school. After a brief period of volunteering, she was employed as a Crocoseum host and quickly progressed to keeping. Becky-Jo has worked in nearly every keeping department in the zoo, from Kids Zoo to Birds, Mammals to Elephants and worked tirelessly in the Koala department. Since joining the Roving Entertainment department she has worked her way up to one of our senior handlers/trainers and loves our adorable roving animals.
Becky-Jo has also recently started co-hosting the Wildlife Warriors Show in the Crocoseum. It wasn't something she planned on doing when she started at the zoo, but it has been an amazing and challenging experience for her.
Olivia joined the Khaki Crew in August 2013 and has a passion for teaching people about wildlife and conservation. Olivia is currently studying a Masters in Communication and previously completed a Bachelor of Science. Olivia loves that working at Australia Zoo allows her to utilize the skills and knowledge she gained from university.
Olivia’s most amazing animal experience was being part of a Turtle Conservation program in Vanuatu and her favourite animals here at Australia Zoo are the Tigers.
Sandi started at Australia Zoo as a volunteer in December 2002 and began working with the Rovers in March 2003. Previously a high school teacher, she loves teaching and is now honoured to be able to educate people about the animals she loves so much. Sandi is always smiling and likes to make sure everyone gets a pat and a photo. Her aim is to give people knowledge of, and a personal experience with, the animals. Sandi believes if you can educate people 'about' animals, it goes a long way towards them learning to 'love' animals. Sandi is currently training with some of our beautiful birds and koalas at koala photos.
Scott is an inspiration to all at Australia Zoo. He has a special role, being BW Croc's best friend and all day assistant. Scott always makes sure that BW Croc is looking her best, her teeth white and he joins her for ice cream Sundaes in the food court.
Best of all, once a month, Scott and BW travel to Brisbane's Royal Children's Hospital to put a big smile on the faces of all the children there. Scott knows how important that is because he spent a lot of time in the same hospital when he was a child. Australia Zoo and BW would be lost without him. Another interesting fact about Scott is that he's also a qualified Swim instructor!
Samantha started with the Zoo Crew in December 2014. Having previously volunteered in Africa with Big Cats and Elephants, Sam is keen to spread the word on conservation.
Sam just loves the Tigers and Otters as "they are both fascinating to watch and interesting to read their behaviour.
When not at the Zoo, Sam enjoys dancing and going to the beach.
Lucy joined the Roving Crew in April 2015. Having a love of animals, Lucy will make sure all our guests have an amazing experience and a love of all animals after a day at the Zoo.
Outside of the Zoo, Lucy likes to bake, sing and go on adventures at the beach with her dogs.
Jess started in the Roving Department in December 2013. She has a background in promotions and enjoys working with all our beautiful animals. Jess loves the Tigers because they are amazing creatures. Jess joined the Zoo to be a part of the amazing things Australia Zoo has done for wildlife conservation. Outside of the Zoo Jess enjoys snowboarding, crossfit, travelling and going to the beach.
Erika started with the Roving department in March 2014. She is looking forward to the amazing opportunity to teach patrons the importance of animal conservation. Erika has also had the opportunity to see first hand baby Turtles from Herron Island hatch and start their awesome journey in life.
Outside of the Zoo Erika enjoys tennis, rugby union, water sports, and travelling.

With thousands of visitors from all over the world passing through the gates daily, all team members understand the importance of making a lasting impression to our patrons. A job at Australia Zoo is more than a vocation, it's a lifestyle - just ask any of our team members. Australia Zoo employees love animals and conservation, have an exceptional self-drive attitude towards work and of course, wear the world famous khaki uniforms with pride!
