Are you looking for some school holiday fun that your kids will remember for years to come?
School holidays are one of our favourite times of the year at Australia Zoo, as we welcome children from around Australia and all over the world. They visit us to see, meet, and feed our amazing animals, taking home photos and memories that will last a lifetime. If you want to treat your kids to a school holiday experience they'll love, then check out this list of 6 awesome school holiday activities!
The Crocoseum Show
Are you ready for some serious wildlife action? Come on a journey of discovery and adventure with our giant snakes, colourful birds and prehistoric crocs in the world famous Crocoseum!
Our keepers and their amazing animals will take you on a slithering, swooping, jaw-snapping adventure of epic proportions! Every day in the Crocoseum we're taking on the world's conservation issues and protecting the animal kingdom, and we want you to join our army of Wildlife Warriors. You and your kids will love watching our keepers in action, and the kids will have so much fun, they won't even realise that they're actually spending time learning while on school holidays!
Meet a Tortoise up Close
Did you know that for just $30 per person, you and your kids could meet a giant Tortoise and have your photo taken in a Tortoise Encounter? These quiet reptiles are friendly and gentle, and just love being fed and patted by visitors like you. Only one Tortoise Encounter is held each day, but you can book in advance so you won't miss out.
Best of all, there is no age restriction for the Tortoise Encounter, so no matter how old or young they might be, all kids can meet these incredible creatures.
Take a Photo with our Wandering Wildlife
Our Wandering Wildlife team regularly roam around Australia Zoo with our animals for you and your kids to meet. Our Roving Photographers have paired up with the Wandering Wildlife team so that you can get aprofessional school holiday photo with a Koala, Wombat, baby Alligator, Macaw and other animals. Keep your eyes open during your day, or ask one of our friendly zoo keepers where you and your kids can enjoy a photo opportunity.

The Otter Show
Our cheeky Asian Small-clawed Otters just love to show off! You and your kids will be delighted by their performances in a live Otter Show – held twice a day so you don’t have to miss out. Our little Otters are very mischievous, but they just love their food, so they always put on quite the performance for visitors because they know that when they perform they get to enjoy a special treat. Learn about Asian Small-clawed Otters as you watch them tumble about in the water, chase one another, and snuggle up to their keepers in a morning or afternoon Otter Show. Our three girls will not disappoint!
Have some Farmyard Fun
If you have little kids (10 years and under), they’ll just love a Farmyard Fun Encounter. Your babies can meet our baby animals up close at the Kids Zoo. These gentle animals are the perfect introduction to farmyard life for your kids, who will have the opportunity to feed and pat them in their enclosures. And a Farmyard Fun Encounter will mean they have lots of stories to tell their friends about how they spent their school holidays.
Feed the Kangaroos
Did you know that you and your kids can feed our Kangaroos at Australia Zoo? Our Red and Grey Kangaroos laze about and roam around in their large outdoor enclosure, which is open to all visitors. Why not come and hang out with them?
Buy some roo food for a couple of dollars and watch the enchantment on your children’s faces as they feed one of these gentle, furry natives. Our roos are friendly and relaxed, and enjoy being fed by visiting children and adults alike.
