Audrey is an incredibly special 7 year old, and our beautiful Sumatran tiger Reggie certainly thinks so!
Not your average 7 year old, Audrey is deeply passionate about tiger conservation, and the role she can play in helping Reggie and his wild family to survive, which is why Audrey adopted Reggie through our conservation program “Adopt an Animal”.
Recently, Audrey bought her whole family to Australia Zoo to check in on Reggie and how much he has grown since his adoption in 2016.
“I hope I become a tiger carer and help make the world know how important it is to stop tigers becoming extinct,” says Audrey.
Her incredible donation will go towards helping our conservation efforts in Sumatra. In the last sixty years we have lost three sub-species of tiger; the Balinese, Caspian and Javanese tigers are gone forever. It is estimated that just 100 years ago, there were over 100,000 tigers in the vast forests of Asia. Humans are the only race capable of wiping out an entire species, making us solely responsible for the tiger's demise.
With less than 5,000 tigers remaining in the wild today (and less than 400 Sumatran tigers), immediate action is the only way to save this magnificent species from extinction. The future survival of the tiger is in the hands of us, people like you and Audrey!
