Most seven year olds get excited by the idea of eating ice-cream, and Australia Zoo proved today that their Sumatran Tigers are no exception! Celebrating their seventh birthday today, siblings Juma, Ranu and Singha were treated to an ice-cream cake each.
Having never had ice-cream before, but not ones to shy away from a milky treat, the adult tigers devoured their special celebratory cakes in seconds.
Males Juma and Ranu, and female Singha, were hand-raised at Australia Zoo, arriving in Queensland at just three weeks of age. Now considered to be in the prime of their lives, they are helping to save their species in the wild.
"All six of our Sumatran Tigers are ambassadors for their species, participating in encounters and photo sessions to raise funds for the tiger conservation programs that we support," said Australia Zoo's Big Cat Supervisor Giles Clark.
"Over the last seven years these three tigers have helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for tiger conservation."
