The annual Steve Irwin Day gala dinner, an exclusive charity dinner raising money for wildlife conservation, again celebrated the life and legacy of the original Wildlife Warrior, Steve Irwin.
This year's dinner took place in Brisbane at the Hillstone St Lucia and featured Darren Percival, from hit television show The Voice, the Australian Girls Choir, appearances from our guests of honour, Terri, Bindi and Robert Irwin, as well as a sumptuous three-course dinner!
Unique experiences and exclusive auction items, including the chance to release a rehabilitated sea turtle with the Irwin family and an invitation to join the Australia Zoo crew on the 2013 annual croc research trip, went under the hammer throughout the night, and guests had opportunity to meet some of our gorgeous animals on arrival.
Not only that, this year marked the ten year anniversary of Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors, established by Steve and Terri Irwin in 2002 as a way for the world to make a difference and support the protection of injured, threatened or endangered wildlife. Wooo-hoo!
Other special guests included international model and Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors ambassador Ellie Gonsalves, Professor Craig Franklin from the University of Queensland, Senator for Queensland Mark Furner, Councillor Rick Baberowski and former Queensland Police Commissioner Bob Atkinson.
Last year's event helped to raise over $100,000 for wildlife conservation, and the event's goal in 2012 is to match that and continue to keep Steve's dream alive. For more information about the gala dinner and Steve Irwin Day, visit steveirwinday.org.

Oops, reading back my comment so sorry if 'scrubs up well' sounded a bit rude. I meant it in the nicest possible way, so very sorry if it came across as sounding a bit rude xx

Wow, wow, wow, who scrubs up well then!!! I'm not religious by any stretch of the imagination, but I sooooooo hope Steve can see how beautiful his family look. Bindi looks amazing, as does Terri and Robert. What a beautiful young woman Bindi is xx"Should get you out of khaki more often", or something like that I remember Steve saying to Terri after a magazine shoot. Another one of Steve's many talents; he had a natural way of making you listen and absorb everything he said. Well, it had that effect on me.I still get that gut wrenching feeling of extreme loss whenever I see Steve's picture. I think of Steve every day. Glad you had a wonderful evening. Love to all xxxx
