Australia Zoo's Rhino herd has had their first run around the new savannah in time for the opening of Africa later this month.
The rhinos were taken onto the plains for a sneak peek of what will grow to be Australia Zoo's largest exhibit, and will soon be introduced to their new neighbours, Queensland's only giraffes and zebras.
Baby white rhino Savannah, who was born at Australia Zoo in April, was clearly the most excited of the rhino herd as she ran at top speed into the new Africa exhibit for the first time! Savannah wasn't interested in giving her mum Caballe any time to relax in the new exhibit as she ran to all areas of her enclosure to check out the new sights and smells.
For little Savannah, running out onto the plains of Africa is just the beginning...all eyes will be on her reaction to seeing giraffes and zebras for the first time!
Australia Zoo's Africa exhibit opens these school holidays, beginning Saturday, September 17. Crikey! That's only NINE days time!
