The Zoo is buzzing with excitement this week as we celebrate three great achievements!
We did it! Last weekend Australia Zoo was named the Major Tourist Attraction in Australia for 2008! Wooo-hoo! You can't get much better than that! We are extremely proud of this grand triumph and we look forward to a fantastic 2009...with a few WILD surprises ahead!
The results are in! On Saturday, RACQ announced the results of the 150 Must Do's in Queensland competition. It was a pretty tough contest, with 150 awesome experiences and attractions from all over our great state going head to head for the top spot. But, out of all these magnificent things to do in Queensland...Australia Zoo was named third! You beauty!
And finally, to further celebrate our amazing State's 150th Birthday, the Queensland Government have launched an online competition to pay tribute to the people, places, stories or other aspects of Queensland that have defined the State.
We are very proud to announce that our very own Aussie legend, Steve Irwin has been put on the short list in the ‘State Shaper' category. The category highlights Queenslanders that have influenced or made a significant contribution to their state. And our Steve was a proud Queenslander through and through!
To top it off, Australia Zoo has also made it on to the competitions short list, as an attraction that has put Queensland on the map!
It would be a great honour to take out these two prestigious titles- but we need your help! Online voting is open now, so show your support and vote for Steve and the Zoo today. Voting closes April 30, 2009.
