Visiting Japanese lifesavers had the time of their lives when they got up close to Australian wildlife while visiting Australia Zoo last week.
Members of the Japanese Shimoda Life Saving Club are visiting Australia as part of a lifesaving and surf sports exchange program. An important part of their trip is to experience Australia's culture, our people and of course our gorgeous animals, which they sure got to experience here at Australia Zoo.
Australia Zoo has supported the exchange program between Maroochydore Life Saving and the Shimoda Life Saving clubs for years, and getting cuddles with koalas, holding slithery snakes and hugging Wendy our baby wombat were all part of their amazing Australia Zoo animal extravaganza experience.
So if you're heading to the beach this Christmas, be sure to say G'day to our visiting guests from the Shimoda Life Saving Club.
Love these photos? Want an experience just like our guests? Check out our awesome Animal Encounters and you too can get up close with more of the gorgeous animals at Australia Zoo.
