Australia Zoo's three resident giraffe ventured their long legs onto the plains of our new savannah in time for the opening of Africa, little over a couple of weeks away now!
Forrest, being the confident leader of the three, guided Penny and Rosie out in to their new neighborhood, which is set to become Australia Zoo's largest exhibit, including rhinos and Queensland's only giraffes and zebras.
Australia Zoo Head of Africa Manu Ludden said the giraffe are very curious of their new surroundings. "Forrest was first out in to the savannah with the two girls following closely behind," Manu said. "The three giraffe are settling in nicely. Forrest is acting like he owns the place, Penny is just relaxing and checking out her new area, while Rosie is devouring every meal. Rosie is our giraffe food connoisseur and when she entered the savannah, food was the first thing she looked for!"
Stage One of Australia Zoo's Africa development will give visitors the opportunity to watch the animals interacting in the only multi-species African exhibit in Queensland from the comfort of our Safari Shuttle.
