Our first ever event was the Australian Uni Volleyball Championships at Mooloolaba Beach, and we didn't know what to expect! It started off as a typically glorious day with plenty of bronzed bodies gracing the beach, but no one was ready for what happened next. With rain bucketing down and everyone packed into a three-metre by three-metre tent, there was no hope of staying dry! Although, despite the bad weather we made the most of it and had a fantastic day. Our next big event saw the Croc Cruiser returning to Mooloolaba Beach for the Telstra countrywide event. With the Sea FM radio crew broadcasting live and a massive Coca-Cola water slide for the kids, it's no wonder the beach was packed with crowds! Eliza and I saw our opportunity to have some fun, so we jumped on the Coca-Cola slide and decided to invent an 'Australia Zoo Race'. As we made our way down the slide in a snake-like motion it was neck and neck until I screamed past for a victorious finish. Wooo-hoo! The crowds were only getting bigger and with their eyes to the sky they awaited a skydiver who would be carrying the largest Telstra flag ever. Though, I must say that the highlight of the day would definitely have been myself and Eliza as we made our way around the crowd with plenty of giveaways for everyone! We also had time to climb the lifesavers' tower to lend a helping hand and get a bird’s eye view of the beach. Crikey, what a great day! We also visited the Regional Swimming Carnival at Nambour local pool. We presented plenty of prizes and made some great new friends. Eliza decided her place was at top spot of the podium along with all the other winners! Go Eliza! Roxy |

So we were back on the road in the troop carrier, heading towards Noosa for the Tewantin/Noosa Lions Club Country Music Festival. With a line-up of great musicians including Felicity and Michelle Bradford Jones, there was no wonder it was such a success. We also donated some awesome items that would go towards the fundraising auction. Eliza and I made our way around the crowds, chatting to people as they got comfy for an afternoon of entertainment. Before we could say "Crikey!" we were heading back up for another community fundraiser. This was a 'Sunshine Aid For A Brighter Day' event which involved an auction of donated items. Included was a donation from Australia Zoo of a framed Steve uniform with a photo of him wearing it and a signed plaque. What a fantastic week it has been in our community. Make sure you check back here each month for more tales of our adventures and some photos too! And remember, Crocs Rule at Australia Zoo! |

Crikey! What an awesome month it’s been for Eliza and I. The Croc Cruiser has been back on the road and heading around the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane. The Caloundra Triathlon at Golden Beach was the first event on our calendar. We set up in the early hours of the morning with lots of anticipation. As the competitors and spectators arrived I could almost feel the fitness in the air, and felt inspired. We had a prize draw taking place at our stand, and people had a chance to win an awesome Australia Zoo pack, including a family pass to Australia Zoo! It was great to have a chat to people about our wildlife, and about the people who make Australia Zoo so wonderful. Another big week! Eliza and I attended the University of the Sunshine Coast Orientation Week celebrations. We set up our marquee and gave away free packs. We also had some great photos of the Zoo and our animals at our stand. There was the famous O-Week race being held around the uni, so we sponsored Danielle (one of the runners) with a sticker on her shirt and crikey, she won! All the new students were getting ready for another great year at the University of the Sunshine Coast, and it was a pleasure to join the celebrations. The Nippers Championships for SLSQ Sunshine Coast Branch was held at Mooloolaba Beach, so we jumped at the opportunity to attend! We set up our marquee with plenty of exciting Australia Zoo merchandise and photos. Our ‘Crikey Mini Basketball Hoop’ was a hit with the kids, and we all had some great laughs. We held an Australia Zoo race with a pleasant surprise for the young competitor who was in the lucky lane. Wooo-hoo! What an awesome day! The Rail and Holiday Expo was held by Queensland Rail at the Sofitel in Brisbane. This was a fantastic opportunity to display some great Australia Zoo merchandise and give away some awesome info packs. We had a great time talking to people about what’s new at Australia Zoo. Another awesome month for the Croc Cruiser promotions team. Until next time, Crocs RULE! |

This month saw us packing our bags into the Croc Cruiser as we headed up north to Hervey Bay and the surrounding areas. First stop was Sea FM at Maryborough where we met Scott, and had the opportunity to tell people about phase one of our South-East Asia section (the Tiger Temple) and, of course, our gorgeous cheetahs. Stopping off at Hervey Bay community radio station was a lot of fun and we even gave away a family pass for the best Crocodile Hunter impersonations. While we were there, we met lots of great people and had an awesome time. This was one trip we definitely won’t forget. Wooo-hoo! Mini Olympics Swim Meet at the Caloundra Aquatic Centre was next on the calendar. With the centre so packed with kids, we were inevitably going to have fun! So we opened the back of the troopy and before we could even set up the Crikey Mini Basketball hoop, we were surrounded by kids. We played some games and gave away an awesome Crocodile Hunter prize pack for the random prize draw. The day finished with a photo opportunity with all the kids; what a little beauty! Crikey! 'Dress up as your favorite Australia Zoo animal' was the theme for Big Top celebrations. All the kids who participated looked drop-dead gorgeous. The giveaways were plentiful throughout the day, and there was a colouring competition to win an Australia Zoo family pass. This was an awesome event; with the kids looking so much like animals, it was almost like we never left the Zoo! There was some fair dinkum Aussie fun going down at the Sunshine Coast Living Expo. Quad Park was the destination and we weren’t going to miss out on the good times. Our stand was filled with heaps of awesome animal photos, temporary tattoos for the kids, an Australia Zoo pack giveaway and a whole lot more! Crikey Mini Basketball was a hit and with rubber snakes and crocs as prizes, the kids were putting in their all. Fairy floss and rides were right next door, and Eliza and I had to fight temptation! Until next month, the Croc Cruiser rules at Australia Zoo! |

Crikey! Starting the month with April Fools Day pranks was a bit of a distraction, but we somehow regained focus for the month ahead. It was set to be an awesome thirty days and we were even heading to Brisbane. The Multicultural Festival in Caboolture was the first stop for the Croc Cruiser Team. What a fantastic event it was going to be, but the weather was not on our side. Before long we were soaked with rain and somewhat resembled a pair of otters. We continued to hold a free prize draw and gave out stickers before heading back to Australia Zoo. Next was the Wooldridge Station BBQ for Queensland Rail. Wooo-hoo! Eliza was the special guest of the morning. She had a cracker of a time helping on the BBQ and holding a competition to win a family pass to the Zoo. What a little ripper! The National 4x4 Show and Outdoors Adventure Expo was the next event on the Croc Cruiser Calender. It was a whole lot of fun. We put up a display with plenty of Australia Zoo’s drop-dead gorgeous animal photos. There were stickers, discounts vouchers for Australia Zoo admission, information packs and a free prize draw to win an awesome Crocodile Hunter prize pack. Eliza and I gave a presentation each day with some awesome Crocodile Hunter footage, and even got to play games with the kids. Everyone at the show received a fantastic prize. Crikey, they loved it as much as we did! Mooloolaba Triathlon was the last event for the month, and Mooloolaba was hosting the world competition this year. With all the buff bodies at the event, Eliza and I felt a bit lazy. The Superkidz event was the highlight of our weekend, as all the participants were full of enthusiasm. We gave an Australia Zoo major prize pack away, and plenty of other awesome merchandise. We put tattoos on kids' arms and tried not to distract them from their races. Another month packed with fair dinkum Aussie fun for the Croc Cruiser Team. Wooo-hoo! |

Crikey! May had just begun and we were on our way to the Caloundra City Libraries' Older Learners Expo at Kawana Library. What an awesome opportunity to meet some great people and tell them all about what's new at Australia Zoo. Being situated right next to the stage area meant that Eliza and I were entertained for hours. There were all sorts of dancers from tap-dancing to line-dancing, and even a band. We had a whole lot of fun and Eliza is going to practise her dancing for next year’s event. Wooo-hoo! Beerwah Primary School is just around the corner from the zoo and was next on the Croc Cruiser Calendar. They were having their yearly celebration, and this time the theme was 'The Big Night Out.' We could see plenty of parents and even more kids as we made our way onto the oval. We had heaps of fun playing ‘Dunk the Wombat’ (with a fake wombat, of course). What a great day it was, with plenty of prizes for everyone who joined in! Moo, oink, neigh! Those were some of the sounds Eliza heard as she set up for a big day at the Maleny Show. There were plenty of rides, sideshow games, animal displays and special events. Eliza even had time to enjoy some of the rides and entertainment herself! If she could talk to the animals, just imagine it! Chatting with a horse, a cow or pig… Crikey! |

By Jingo! What a cracker of a month it was for the Croc Cruiser team, with plenty of events to visit and loads of fair dinkum Aussie fun to be had. On Saturday June 4th we were outta here and heading to the Kids Expo at Redcliffe Showgrounds. Gosh, what an awesome day we had with all the kids and their parents! We gave out Australia Zoo and Crocodile Hunter merchandise, stickers, discount vouchers, had a free prize draw, played games with the kids and generally had a ripper of a time! Just one day had passed and we were back on the road, scooting down to the Gold Coast for the week. Check this out! Located smack dab in the middle of the Gold Coast, our mission was to spread the word on what’s new at Australia Zoo and our conservation efforts. What a fun time we had when we attended a live crossover with Gold FM in aid of Give Me Five for Kids. What an eventful trip; by the end of the week we were getting weary and a bit homesick, too. So it was all over, red rover and back to Australia Zoo! Before we could say "Crikey!” we were off again and heading to The Queensland Week BBQ, located at the Roma Street Parklands. The park was chock-a-block with stacks of activities, entertainment and more. Eliza and I didn’t know what to do first - hula-hoops, juggling, art, craft, bubble-blowing, walking on stilts or just chilling out and watching the bands! After we tried all the activities we decided to walk around and get acquainted with all of the cool people who were there to celebrate, handing out loads of free stuff along the way. As usual, everyone was keen to hear about what's going on at Australia Zoo. Wooo-Hoo! What an awesome day. Sunshine Coast Show at the Nambour Showgrounds was the next place to be invaded by the Croc Cruiser. Something was a little different this time, as Eliza was on holidays and Bree was there to fill the gap. Bree was cool as a cucumber and fit right in; what a treasure she is! Together we constructed a whopper of a display with drop-dead gorgeous animal photos, merchandise, discount vouchers, stickers and much more. We were also able to get out and about in the showgrounds with plenty of awesome giveaways for the kids. On our adventures we encountered a lot of cool and crazy entertainers and even made a visit to the grumpy alpacas. We took a walk on the wild side at the Kawana Shopping Centre 'Totally Wyld' sale. Wooo-Hoo! Bree and I felt right at home with all the roving entertainment in animal costumes. The sale was based around Australia Zoo animals, and their photos were on all the advertising around the Sunshine Coast. We even took Bishki, our resident roving Gorilla character along for the fun. We had a colouring competition for kids to win an awesome tiger pack. We did a super fun stage presentation with a 'Crike-Off' for the kids, and roved with discount vouchers and stickers all day long. Hi-ho, hi-ho, we were off to the Woodford Show! Bree was back and the car was packed full of free giveaways and Australia Zoo packs. There was plenty to see and do, from sideshow alley to the dog shows. There were horses, cows, and stalls... oh my! Check out the Croc Cruiser Calendar to see where we will be heading this month. Crocs RULE! |

Wooo-hoo! We were back on the go and heading to the Lismore 4x4, Caravan and Camping Show. The organisers really put on a turn with stacks of exciting things to do, plenty of displays all over the paddock, and they even had a mock helicopter rescue in the arena. There were loads of awesome prizes to be won; we even had a Crocodile Hunter Pack up for grabs! The Australia Zoo display had some awesome Croc Hunter footage, giving patrons a glimpse of our drop-dead gorgeous animals. What a ripper of a time we both had, and we definitely hope to return again soon! |

Crikey! It was that time of year again - that’s right, it was Ekka time at the Brisbane RNA Showgrounds and the Croc Cruiser team hopped on board for the ride. It was a fantastic atmosphere, with stacks of rides, entertainment, show bags, exciting displays and people chomping down on all sorts of yummy show food. There were BMX Stunt Teams, a human cannonball, roving entertainment and bands, but most importantly, there was the Australia Zoo Crew. What an absolute classic the street parade was each day, with our roving gorilla Bishki, a Steve impersonator behind the wheel, and Bree and I giving out some awesome prizes along the way. We had some fair dinkum Aussie fun at the Ekka, and we’ll be back for more action-packed fun next year. |

During the September school holidays, Big Top Shopping Centre went ballistic with loads of activities and fun for the kids. The arts and craft area was a little beauty, and an Australia Zoo colouring competition gave people a chance to win Australia Zoo passes and a humungous Crocodile Hunter pack. Shoppers also went in the draw to win an awesome Animal Encounter for their whole family at Australia Zoo. Wooo-hoo! |
