Selina the Koala (and her joey, Sprout)

Age: Adult Sex: Female Weight: 4.9kg

Found: Outside Supercheap Auto on busy Anzac Avenue in Kallangur, unknown if they had been hit by a car.

Transported to: The Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital by Moreton Bay Koala Rescue group.

Veterinary Assessment: Dr Amber assessed Selina and little Sprout, and found they were both bright, alert and responsive, and luckily had no injuries!

Treatment: Fortunately for Selina and Sprout, no treatment was required.

Future: Selina and her joey were released back into the wild the very next day, a safe distance away from any busy roads.

AZWH Fact: 149 koalas were admitted to the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital last month, 33% of which were hit by cars. Selina and Sprout were lucky - but vehicle strikes are still one of the most common reasons why koalas are in our care. Please slow down on the roads!
