Age:Adult Sex: Female Weight: 1.87kg
Found: With her leg stuck in a camper trailer after travelling from Gympie to Maroochydore.
Transported to: The Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital via Bli Bli Veterinary Surgery by the Australia Zoo Rescue Unit.
Veterinary Assessment: Dr Amber found Megs had some tissue trauma on her leg where it was stuck. She and Gingernut were otherwise bright and active.
Treatment: Dr Amber gave Megs fluids and pain relief, and kept her in Mammals ICU for a few days to further assess her leg.
Future: Megs and Gingernut have been sent to a local wildlife carer until the leg has made a full recovery. They will then be released back into the wild.
AZWH Fact: As cities and suburbs take over natural habitats for wildlife, including common brushtail possums, the animals are forced to live in close quarters with people - even in our campervans! Please keep an eye out for any injured wildlife.
