Hornsby the Southern Leaf-tailed Gecko

Age: Adult    Sex: Unknown

Weight: 13 grams

Found: In a shipping container by a local resident of Hervey Bay after moving from Sydney to QLD. Hornsby had accidentally made the journey too and had spent four weeks in the shipping crate.

Transported to: The Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital by the ex-NSW resident.

Veterinary Assessment: Luckily Hornsby was bright and alert, with no injuries but probably very hungry.

Treatment: Dr Amber prescribed some decent meals of crickets and mealworms to boost Hornsby's energy.

Future: After about a week in care, Hornsby made the long trip back to Sydney and was released back in NSW.

AZWH Fact: Southern Leaf-tailed Geckos have extremely good camouflage to hide from predators, but if threatened or captured they can also drop their tail to escape!
