Sunkissed the Pale Headed Rosella

Age: Adult Sex: Unknown

Found: On the ground at a home at Bellvista in Caloundra, not flying and with some blood in one nostril.

Transported to: The Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital by Emma from the Australia Zoo Rescue Unit.

Veterinary Assessment: Dr Amber found that Sunkissed was perching and flying well, with x-rays confirming that the bird had luckily not suffered any fractures.

Treatment: Dr Amber administered Sunkissed with antibiotics and pain relief, and also cleaned up the nostril.

Future: Sunkissed is now with a local wildlife carer, and will soon be released back into the wild once fully healed.

AZWH Statistic: Almost 40% of patients admitted to the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital last month were birds! Please be a responsible pet owner and keep an eye on your outdoor domestic cats and dogs to make sure they don't injure our beautiful native wildlife!
