IN a brace stitched and shortened to fit his little furry neck, Stuart the koala needs more than a healthy dose of eucalyptus leaves to keep him alive.

THERE is no doubt cuddles from elephants and being playfully splashed by a green sea turtle is the animal kingdom’s way of saying thank-you to Tegan Lather.

GETTING through Customs can be convoluted for any foreigner, but it is triply complex when you come from Africa and there’s no denying you are a cheetah.

After 30 days of quarantine and surveillance, two new cheetahs have passed the "import process" and now can call Australia Zoo home.

The 10-month-old males will join three other cheetahs in the Africa section.

JACK Sexton’s idea of a zoo was animals locked up behind bars, so when he visited Australia Zoo for his 102nd birthday he was in awe of the animals roaming freely.

Jack, from Rochedale, visited the zoo on Sunday with his Sunshine Coast family.

His daughter Linda said he was bewildered by the experience.

AUSTRALIA Zoo keepers are monitoring closely the animal park’s six white rhinos after the mysterious deaths of four of the animals in New South Wales.

The endangered white rhinoceroses died at Taronga Western Plains Zoo at Dubbo early last week.
