Here at Australia Zoo we are very proud of our ever-growing giraffe family! In 2014, we were thrilled to welcome babies Tulip and Lily to our giraffe herd, and in July 2015 we await the arrival of a brand new baby to second-time mum, Rosie. Along with our oldest baby Skye, this will make it four giraffe calves born at Australia Zoo in under two years! But when this little one is born, it won’t be such a “little” brother or sister for the new babies, as giraffes stand close to 2 metres at birth and walk around within the first hour of being born!
Our growing giraffe family is evidence of a successful breeding program at Australia Zoo. With only 80,000 giraffe left in the wild, and their threats including poaching and habitat destruction – these beautiful babies provide countless reasons for us to celebrate.More Giraffe Information
