(Iguana iguana)
These amazing reptiles have a long tail, eyelids, and four sprawling legs. Common Green Iguanas vary in colour from green to brown with faint black bands around their body and tail. They usually weigh anywhere between 4.5 to 7 kilograms, but have been known to weigh up to 18 kilograms. Green Iguanas have a serrated crest along their back and lots of loose skin hanging from their chin which is called a dewlap. Males have large scales underneath their ears. They have extremely powerful legs which they use to swim with and climb trees.
Habitat
Green Iguanas live in rainforests, usually near river banks. They can be found in Central and South America, some Pacific Islands and an introduced population exist in Florida Keys in the USA.
Diet
Green Iguanas are primarily herbivores (plant eaters). They enjoy eating leaves, flowers, and fruit. They are also known however, to supplement their diet with insects and other small animals. Some meat is essential to their diet to prevent osteoporosis.
Breeding
During breeding season a female will dig a shallow trench in the moist soil near a riverbank where she will lay thirty to forty eggs. After covering the eggs with soil, she takes no more part in the parental up bringing of the young. After three months the eggs hatch, the young will live in trees and eat insects that they catch themselves.

Jub Jub

Sex: Male
This is definitely the handsome prince of our sub adult green iguanas, Jub Jub's brilliant colours certainly makes him stand out amongst the rest... Despite his lack of size, Jub Jub thinks he is much bigger than what he is and can be quite a handful when the mood strikes him.
