Spring is in the air

What a beautiful time of year and in our lovely rainforest aviary the birds are loving it. The birds have really changed in their behaviour due to the warmer weather as it is now breeding season for a lot of our beautiful birds in the aviary. Not long ago when the days were cooler and the birds were looking for any little spot of sunshine to warm their bodies, now they have begun to display themselves in many ways to attract their perfect mate.
When walking through the aviary you can see the male Wonga pigeon's wings slapping each other and constantly calling for that little lady. If you're really lucky you may see a pair of parrots feeding each other which is all part of the courtship process. Finches are always busy collecting nesting material or food because they have a new little family to care for.
It is really a busy time of the year for our birds and they keep us on our toes making sure that they are all well and happy. It is an exciting time and watching the birds display their courtship behaviour can be quite a wonderful experience.
