Up and coming stars

Hi there! If have ever visited the Zoo you may have seen our awesome free flight show in the Crocoseum. Did you know that we also have a great Bird of Prey Show? In the Bird of Prey presentation we already have a couple of star performers such as our Barking Owl and a Peregrine Falcon. But over the past couple of months we have started to train a new recruit to the Birds of Prey, a Blue-Winged Kookaburra named Slim Dusty.Slim is the daughter of Spike and Matilda who can be found in our Birds of Prey aviary. In nature the Blue winged Kookaburras are quite shy which made the initial training a little bit difficult, but as time progressed she started to show the makings of an excellent show bird. She is becoming a natural at fist to fist flights as well as any other flights asked of her. It won’t be long now until Slim becomes one of the stars of the Bird of Prey.
So the next time you come to the Zoo check out the Birds of Prey presentation and keep your eye out for Slim our beautiful Blue-winged Kookaburra.
