The boys are stepping up
29 December 2006
Toby, our Head Crocodile Keeper, has been working all year training up the crew, so here’s where they're at.
Dan is about to finish his apprenticeship. He has just a few training sessions to go with feeding Agro and Charlie - the last two crocs you learn to feed. And then, that’s it - he’ll be a fully trained croc keeper, which will take a fair load off Toby.
Herbie and Damo have finally started doing shows in the Crocodile Environmental Park. This is a big step for the boys, as now they can’t see the croc before it strikes out. So now more than ever they have to be right on their toes. These blokes are legends, so there won’t be a problem.
Scotty has been signed off to work in the alligators and freshies, and is also an important part of our new Crocoseum show.
Marko and Anthony are also coming through all guns blazing. They are in the middle of their alligator training and gaining valuable experience, as some of the gators have laid and are going crazy defending their nest. Also the boys had a fantastic trip up to north Queensland this year where, in true Stevo style, they were thrown in the deep end but as we expected they had no dramas taking on the biggest crocs we could find.
All in all it’s been a huge year and definitely not always a good one, but the team really looked after each other and we pulled through. We are more than ready to put 2006 behind us and take on anything 2007 can throw at us. So on behalf of the entire team, BRING IT ON!
