The cutest and cuddliest!

26 May 2006

Who thinks that koalas are just the cutest? I am definitely one of those people. I just love their cuddly little faces and beautiful big noses. I can clearly see why they are the Australian icon, can’t you?

Each koala is so unique and has such personality; these are just some of the things we as koala keepers have the privilege of experiencing. It is amazing when you walk past a koala and all it wants to do is cuddle; it makes you feel so special that it wants to cuddle you! Some just want to pull you close to sniff you all over your face with those big noses of theirs.

Have you ever seen a koala sleep? I would be surprised if you said no, seeing as they do sleep for 20 hours of the day. But it’s how they sleep that has me intrigued. They all have their little cute ways of sleeping, some sleep flat out on their tummies or in a ball, some pick the smallest branch to sleep on as high in the tree as they can get, and some pick big, fat branches to sleep on. But you can always be assured that when it is time for a koala either go to a photo session or come down for koala show or a check-up, they will be as high as they can get so it is almost impossible for us to get them. Especially when you are my height at five foot nothing! At least it is always fun for the public to watch.

Well that’s all from me this week. Be sure to catch up with us next week and see what we're up to!
