Devil Friends

It's been a very long and patient experience, but Tasmanian Devil training certainly has its rewards! My name is Nat, and I started my devil training about two months ago. Now these cute little creatures don't just except your love and attention readily. Like anyone, you have to get to know them before they will trust you. You wouldn't just let some stranger in your home and let them get comfortable. The only time you would allow this situation, is when you have one of your existing friends introduce you to them. That is what my devil training has been about, pretty much in a nutshell.
Sometimes these strangers we meet blossom into long, lasting friendships, and sometimes they don't. But I can safely say that Tula and I have become great friends. When we first met, she didn't want to know me, and now, it's constant cuddles! Well, providing there isn't a better friend in the enclosure with me. They always get first cuddles.
It is truly rewarding working with this animal, because of the strong bond you have to develop with them first. It's a challenge and requires a lot of patience. But in the end, it makes every cuddle with Tula that much better. Sometimes it nearly makes me cry!
