Good luck Kate
24 August 2007
It's been an exciting couple of weeks, with lots of construction under way everywhere from the front of the Zoo to the Southern Wombat enclosure, but unfortunately also a sad one as we say good bye to one of our fantastic rovers "Kate". Kate is now a part of a great team in the animal rescue unit. Our wildlife hospital receives a whole range of animals every day with nearly 100 wildlife emergency calls received and up to 30 different species admitted to the hospital daily. This may include: koalas, kangaroos, possums, gliders, lizards, snakes, birds and a stack of marine life. Kate started out like most animal keepers here at Australia Zoo by volunteering and luckily she soon started work in the keeping departments and than onto Roving/Wandering Wildlife team. Kate has been working at Australia Zoo for almost 12 months now. She has gained lots of hands on experience in the roving team with a range of cute and cuddly, scaly and feathered friends but Kate is always amongst animals, in her spare time she volunteers with various animal and research groups monitoring breeding and numbers of animals in the wild.Kate will be sorely missed by the rovers and keeping departments and of course some of her special animal friends will definatly miss her bright bubbly and funny ways. We wish Kate all the best on her new adventure helping to save many animals and also educating guests about our precious animals here in Australia.
Good Luck Kate!!!!!
