New Holiday Kids Program BIG HIT

G'day, g'day to all our regular readers and a big welcome to all our new ones. Welcome to the next edition of Elephant Diaries. As I'm sure you are all aware it's holiday time again and that means the Zoo Keeper for a day Kids Program is running again. Now I know that I have reported on this awesome experience before BUT there have been some new big changes.

In the past the kids would come down for bit of an educational talk then meet and feed the Elephants. The education team thought that maybe we could make this experience a bit more EXTREME. So now the kids get the opportunity to have a true hands on insight in what it is to be an Elephant Keeper. Now the program starts "in" the elephant yard where the kids get to pick up ELEPHANT POO, assist in raking the massive 4.5 acre enclosure, help clean around the huge elephant pool and water the beautiful gardens. We still finish with an educational talk and they still get to meet and feed the elephants. I must say that I am amazed at how many of them want to pick up the POO.
