Winter is Coming
18 April 2008
Gday folks! Well the busy summer season has come to a close, our snakes and lizards are slowing down preparing for the cool temps ahead. Our snake feeding regime is about to be wound up with a couple more good feeds to tie them over for winter and maintain good body condition for our breeders. The lizards, including iguanas, will be fed over winter, though they won’t eat as much as they do in the summer time. Igloo, Goliath, Jarvis and Coconut, our giant tortoises, will continue to munch through a couple of kilograms of veggies and grass each day. Our cage heating will be adjusted over the coming weeks to reflect natural conditions and still allow our guys to have a sun bake if they feel the need. On the other hand, the reptile crew will not be sitting back relaxing. Winter is a great time to catch up on maintenance, continue training, design new enclosures and prepare for new projects for the summer.
