Animal Walks

4 February 2005

If I came back as an animal any animal, truly I would want to live here at Australia Zoo. The animals are sooo spoilt with loving keepers and big beautiful enclosures; I couldn't think of a better place. Whether it's the wombats, Tasmanian Devils, Dingoes or possums the lucky rovers get to bring them out and about, not only for the benefit of our guests. Our animals love it! They get to exercise and explore all over the Zoo.

The animals enjoy coming out into the Zoo and have heaps of fun. They meet many lovely people, visit new locations and also experience LOTS of interesting smells. The keepers also place many different enrichment items within their enclosure as well; from food to toys to plain old keeper interaction. Then it's over to the rovers who are lucky enough to do the walks outside.

For example, as soon as the wombats hear their harness they run straight for the front gate ready for that walk. The Dingoes hear us coming, and they start to howl with excitement. Even our possums and yes, our Tassie Devils love to come out for cuddles and walks too!

The Zoo is currently situated on about 68 acres and it's going to expand to about 315 acres, so you can imagine the fun in store, not only our guests, but for our animals as well. They are going to have a fun and wild time moving and exploring the Zoo as it grows.

So when you visit Australia Zoo keep an eye out for our little walking wonders and be sure to take lots of photos; they sure do love to pose (the animals that is)!
