This week has been all about working very closely with our Australia Zoo construction team. You see, for the past couple of weeks these guys have been working hard on completing two brand new aviaries for us at our Roving Headquarters. This week they have been putting the final touches on these aviaries, one of which is going to be a new holding aviary for Djagarna the Black-necked Stork.

Now this aviary is kind of a cross between a timber-slated raptor mew and a wire parrot aviary. It also has a nice sized release hatch that we hope to train Djagarna to use on her way down to the Crocoseum. As Djagarna is just about finished her moult, this aviary could not have come at a better time. It will allow us to keep all of her new feathers in tip-top condition.

The second aviary they have been working on is an extension to Megan the Andean Condor's mew. This extension will give Megan the chance to get outdoors in a secure environment and get to enjoy all of the delights of being exposed to the elements. This should also help her to stay healthy, particularly with her feathers. On her first adventure out into her new extended surroundings she just opened her wings and sunned herself for a good 10 minutes of full wing stretch. It looked amazing.
