Cheeky little Bimbo
16 February 2007
Hello again to all our avid elephant enthusiasts and welcome to another edition of elephant diaries. This week’s article is a bit of a mixed bag talking about Bimbos cheeky behaviour in the pool through to an update on how everything is going.Well we will start with that naughty little Bimbo who is stirring up her friends (Siam and Sabu) in the pool. You see what happens is that when Siam and Sabu are swimming happily in the deep end little Bimbo takes advantage of the fact that she is high in the shallows. This cheeky little elephant tries to put her trunk on top of the other girls heads and push them over. Now this is not a good behaviour as what can happen is that when the other girls get out of the water they may decide to push her over just to remind her that they are still bigger and stronger. So now we have modified the pool a little bit by adding some large boulders around the fallen tree just to minimize Bimbo’s reach from the shallow end. She is such a cheeky little elephant some times and forgets that she is not as big as the other girls.
Holidays have finished and the crowds have eased but the girls still put on quiet a show in the pool and with their daily wash downs. Siam has also started to spray the water from her trunk when she is in the pool, she has only got the handlers so far but it won’t be long untill she starts spraying the guests over the fence. The new Elephantasia enclosure has been a huge hit with all positive comments; most people are shocked as to how big it is. We see some guest’s and regular’s sitting and watching the Elephants for hours and hours they just love to watch them and chat with the handlers, which is quite rewarding for us.
Anyway that’s enough from me until next week.
Be safe and we hope to see you soon.
