Wet Week

27 January 2006

Last week was very wet here at the Zoo, with five days of solid rain. Most of our reptiles will hide out in their rock crevices or shelters to escape the rain... but not everyone!

Goliath is one of our male Aldabran Land Tortoises, and he enjoyed the rain just as much as the frogs did! All we could do was shake our heads, because it has been less than a month since we laid new turf in this exact spot. It was very funny to watch; he was on a mission and I guess from the mess he left, he succeeded. We had to take photos as we watched Goliath spend hours going around and around in circles tearing up everything in his path.
