Love is in the air!
Primates are currently off display
27 June 2008
You may remember reading about our Leapin Lemur encounters in a previous article. The Primate Team is to be able to finally show off our gorgeous Ring Tailed Lemurs.
The encounter is a very special experience which gives guests the opportunity to come up to our off display lemur facility to meet our cute and quirky little Ring Tailed Lemurs. We are pleased to announce the encounters have been very successful and are proving to be a huge hit with our guests. We have received lots of very positive feedback, and the Lemurs are having a great time during these encounters.
We never quite know what to expect on these encounters. They are all so very different, a lot depends on the weather, the mood of our lemurs and occasionally on the guests themselves.
You see, last week on a beautiful sunny day we had a rather unusual but beautiful encounter. The experience started out just like any other. We had a look at the Black and White Ruffed Lemurs, went in to meet our three cheeky ringtails Vatobe, Betafo and Mandabe. Started with some cute photos and opted for a couple shot of our guests two guests Jess and Darren. Just as our photographer was busy taking photos and Vatobe was having a great time eating banana, Darren made a very special announcement. Darren took a little box out of his pocket, got down on one knee and you guessed it, proposed to his girlfriend Jess! She said ‘YES’ of course.
It was a very special and beautiful moment and we feel privileged to have been a part of it all. Even Vatobe, one of our ringtails made sure he was right there in amongst all the action. We couldn’t believe our eyes as he stayed on Darren’s shoulder during the whole proposal and he even appeared to be checking out Jess’s engagement ring.
To Darren and Jess, the staff here at Australia Zoo wish you all the very best and thank-you for allowing us to be a part of such a special moment. The lemurs say hi too!
