Striking Back!
30 March 2007
Hello and welcome once again to elephant diaries, todays story is about the power of the eucalyptus tree. This species of tree is so hardy and designed to survive the harsh varieties of weather conditions that the Australian climate has to offer. They survive and even rely on bush fires, can make it through drought conditions and even survive cyclones. Now some of you regular readers may remember the story that we wrote on a particularly large eucalyptus that was struck by lighting in the elephant enclosure. That tree was huge and was reduced to half its size as well as being left with a massive split straight down its trunk. We had thought that there was no way it could come back after the amount of damage that it had taken. We were wrong, this tree is STRIKING BACK, unbelievable the power and spirit of these awesome trees is amazing.
If you want to read the original article on the lighting struck tree go into the elephant diaries and look for the story called Strike of approval.
Well that's it for now until our next adventure Stay Safe.
