Roving Tara Part 2
23 March 2007
In the afternoon 'Steggy' (another one of our cute Blue-tongue lizards) and I were saying goodbye to all our guests and hearing their stories of the big day they had. This guest I was chatting with earlier in the morning came up to me so incredibly excited as she showed me all the photos she had taken of her day at Australia Zoo. She was amazed at how close she could get to all the animals, not only seeing them in their spectacular enclosures that closely resemble their natural habitat, but also, how we bring the animals out to you. She just couldn't believe the day she had; she saw the Tortoises being fed, the Wombats and Dingoes walking on leads in amongst guests, she hand fed the Kangaroos and Elephants, she saw the Cheetah walking around the zoo with its keepers, the Tigers and Elephants playing in their swimming pools, the spectacular Birds flying right above her head, she learnt a lot about Snakes and learnt that they aren’t as scary as she thought, and she saw the big Crocodiles being hand fed and heard the incredible sound of their jaws snapping shut on its prey. Just when she thought she couldn't possibly be any more excited, standing just outside the exit was one of our gorgeous camels waiting to wish all our guests a safe trip home.A trip to Australia Zoo is a truly remarkable experience. Where else in the world do you get to be so close with such a vast range of wildlife in the one area and actually pat them and be able to learn so much about them and with so many happy, smiling faces? The best part of my day is seeing people overcome their 'phobias' of animals and seeing how much they appreciate what we are trying to do here at Australia Zoo. 'CONSERVATION THROUGH EXCITING EDUCATION' is our motto that is true to its word.
Have a wonderful day and make someone smile!
Roving Tara.
