Moving on

29 September 2006

Well this is easily the hardest animal diary I have had to write… because I am saying farewell to the Zoo. After three years working at Australia Zoo I have decided it is time for me to spread my wings and explore other opportunities. I have loved working at the Zoo, and the main reason for that is because of how hands-on it is. I have worked with the dingoes, camels and foxes for most of my time here. The camels are great; they're really cheeky and keep us on our toes. Once you form that very special bond with the foxes and they jump on your shoulders during a show, it is an experience you will never forget. But easily the animals I will miss the most are the dingoes. I have been head dingo handler for more than a year now, and absolutely adore the girls. The love and respect I receive from them as ‘alpha’ is irreplaceable. However, I know the keepers in the section will take good care of the girls, and I will be in from time to time to say hi. Try and keep me away!

So this is goodbye for now (who knows what will happen in the future?) and remember… dingoes RULE!
