Holidays
29 September 2006
It’s school holiday time again! Everyone here is gearing up for the busy session. And it’s not just the staff who are getting excited, it’s the animals here too.
Dozer, our beautiful common wombat, whom I should mention has a very mischievous son in her pouch, is just itching to get out amongst it again. She loves going for her walks and meeting all our happy guests.
Hope, our gorgeous Mountain Brushtail Possum, loves holiday time because she gets to say hello to our ‘Zoo Keeper for a Day’ kids. The Education Department here at Australia Zoo runs a program for children who are interested in becoming keepers. They get to feed elephants, prepare food and help our keepers clean enclosures. Its a great way to get the kids up close to the animals, and it allows them to get their hands dirty as well!
Occa, our talkative and very cheeky Sulphur-crested Cockatoo, loves nothing more than to come out into the Zoo and ask kids some very strange questions like: “Would you like a cup of coffee?” or “Would you like to go for a ride on the train?”. Everyone thinks it’s hilarious and he even has a giggle as well.
There are so many people and animals to meet and so much to do here at Australia Zoo, you will never get bored.
So if you’re looking for something fun to do, come visit us. We’d love to meet you too!
