How Are The Free Flight Birds Doing?
11 June 2004
We are still moving along very quickly in the birds show. All of the birds are learning so quickly and every week we have a new bird ready to fly in the show. We have finally named our new Blue and Gold Macaw, Queto (pronounced Keto). He and his flatmate Reo (a Scarlet Macaw) are doing really well with Reo quite readily following us around their large flight aviary.Even though he is only a youngster, still learning exactly how to manoeuvre those huge wings and tail, it shouldn't be to long before he is in the shows as well. A lot of our time has been focused on our eagles this week, in the attempt to get Sultan and Amelio ready for their first shows. Sultan did great and actually flew for the public for the first time on the 9th of June. Amelio is flying free now but still not quite confident enough for the show. It won't be long, though, until he too gets to spread his wings for the visitors to Australia Zoo.
