Hey True Blue!

27 January 2006

It's that time of year again, when we all bring out the vegemite and get our billies boiling... it's Australia Day! And even here in Kids Zoo we get into the spirit of things, celebrating all things Aussie. Things like the shade of our beautiful gum trees under which our animals graze during the day, or the freshly baked damper that everyone around the Zoo gets to share. Things like pavlova, Australian music, or the Aussie Meat Pie... (actually, that's one thing we DON'T really talk about down in Kids Zoo!) but the one thing that's given us all the giggles this year are our 'lambingtons!'

You see, our wonderful woolly sheep are all pretty good at getting their sawdust bedding stuck in their wool, leaving us with the constant task of brushing it off. But this particular week the sawdust we had delivered came with all these long curly wood shavings spread through it, which seem extra prone to clinging to our sheep. And when one of our black sheep gets up from the sawdust, covered in all these long curly bits, they look just like dark chocolate sponge cake covered in coconut... like lamingtons, or laaambingtons, as we like to call them!

So just remember... KIDS ZOO RULES on Australia Day!
