Stars in the Crocoseum
29 December 2006
Well, the Christmas holidays have arrived and the Elephant Department has become abuzz with activity. Our elephant exhibit - Elephantasia - is in the final stages of completion and is looking amazing! (Let's just say our elephants are in paradise.)
Now that our exhibit is finished, the elephant schedule has become a little more action-packed. Our three lovely ladies spend their time swimming in the pool, being pampered in a wash/scrub-down session, eating lots of yummy food and recently appearing in two shows a day in our Animal Planet Crocoseum. Australia Zoo’s mission is to become the world leader in conservation, relating to both wildlife and their habitat. The Crocoseum seats roughly 5000 people, which gives us the opportunity to spread our knowledge and conservation pledge for all wildlife to thousands of people from all around the world. Not only do the elephants make a brief appearance, our snakes, birds, wombats and even our piglets from Kids Zoo come to star in the show. The elephants in particular play a vital role in educating people about the plight of elephants in the wild. We hope people can learn a little more about why our wild elephants are so endangered and unite as one to become Wildlife Warriors for future generations.
