Ryan Snaps Up The Opportunity
23 July 2007
The croc team's newest recruit Ryan has completed his gator photo training and is now getting his hands dirty in our photo studio. That's right, the big fella is now signed off to handle and care for our 2yr old alligators. Not only does Ryan look after the gators and the general maintenance of their enclosures but it is now his job to introduce the little guys to the general public and give them the opportunity to have a photo holding onto one of the worlds most impressive predators, even if they are only 2yrs old and fit in the palm of your hands. Size doesn't seem to be an issue though, because the little gators are a dead set hit with anyone who walks through the front gates.
If you're visiting the zoo you may get the chance to see Ryan walking around with the 2yr olds but we also have 5 & 1 yr old alligators getting around the zoo as well. So now is the chance for anyone whom wants to meet an alligator while it's still safe to get up close and personal, and Ryan is a top bloke as well so the whole experience is top notch.
Training with the alligators is only the first step in Ryan's quest to become a fully qualified crocodile keeper. Over the next 4 years Ryan will be involved in some of the most breath taking experiences, whether it is here at Australia Zoo or out in the field with the wild crocs. One thing's for sure, Ryan is keen as mustard to get cracking on his training and do his part for crocodile conservation.
Until next time
