Good Luck Aristotle
22 November 2007
On the 14th of October I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to release a koala back into it's natural habitat after he recovered from being hit by a car. Lucky for Aristotle, a member of the public called Wildlife Warriors at the Australian Wildlife Hospital and they were quick to respond, rescuing the male koala and bringing him back to the hospital for treatment. After our amazing vets worked their magic, Aristotle was on the road to recovery.Aristotle was rescued from Redland Bay, an area of well established koala habitat, about one hour's drive away from the hospital. So on Sunday night after work, I collected the fully recovered Aristotle and we set out for his former home range. As soon as we arrived, he knew he was home, as he was eager to get out of the transport cage and return to a life in the trees.
We found the perfect tree, Eucalyptus Robusta, a beautiful Swamp Mahogany, and after a few bellows to let the other resident koalas know he was back, he settled down and had a quick bite to eat, before settling down for a sleep. Good Luck to Aristotle and thanks to all the staff at the Wildlife Hospital for giving him and thousands of other animals a second chance.
