Iguana Experiences

Since December last year, Australia Zoo has been offering an amazing new animal experience. The chance to get up close and personal with the exotic Green Iguana named "Peru", where our guests are able to hold, pat and even feed her while our talented photographers capture every moment.

Recently there has been a recent addition to the Iguana experience, "Se Se", he is a Fijian Crested Iguana, although small in size, his big personality and striking colouration have made him quite popular with both patrons and staff. Se Se gives us a great chance to teach people about his species of Iguana, as very few people know that Fijian Crested Iguanas are critically endangered.

These little Iguanas only grow to about 70cm in length, most of that being a slender tail, and weigh less than half a kilogram. At this size they are well adapted for their arboreal life in the Hibiscus forests in coastal areas of Fiji. It is this coastal habitat that is being destroyed and putting poor little guys like Se Se at risk of extinction.
