They are the largest species of lizard, growing to lengths of over 3 metres and weighing up to 100kg! Hang out with one of these amazing Endangered Species during our Colossal Komodo Dragon experience, and a professional photographer will capture the moment. Wooo hoo!

Package Details

Timing and Days

• One encounter is held per day.
• Komodo encounters are held 5 days of the week.
• Komodo encounters are held from 8:30am - 8.55am.

Package Includes

• Entry into Australia Zoo.
• One professional Australia Zoo photographer to capture the moment.
• Six 6"x8" photos of your choice.

Price & Guest Limit

• $400AUD per Komodo encounter for up to two adults.
• The same price will apply if there is only one participant.

Access to Australia Zoo

• As the Komodo Encounters are held before the zoo is open. Guests are required to be at the front entrance of the zoo by 8:20am for their 8:30am start. This is where the guests can pay the balance of the experience and sign the terms & condition forms.

• Bookings should be made in advance through the Tour Desk at Australia Zoo on (07) 5436 2002 or via email guestservices@australiazoo.com.au.
  A non-refundable deposit of $100AUD will be taken at the time of the booking. For further information or to make a booking please contact Guest Services on (07) 5436 2002.

Terms and Conditions

1. Komodo Encounters are available to participants who are 15 years of age and above only.
2. Enclosed shoes and long pants/shorts must be worn during the encounter.
3. All participants must agree to follow all instructions given by the handlers at all times.
4. Participants must be fit and healthy and must have full motor skill capacity (no wheelchairs or walking aides).
5. For the safety of our guests, all participants must be able to squat/kneel down and stand back up quickly without assistance and be able to understand and follow all instructions given by handlers. If any of the participants arrive and cannot display this, the encounter will not go ahead.
6. Participants may be asked to cease the encounter at any time for whatever reason at the handler's discretion.
7. Please ensure that your hands are clean prior to beginning the encounter.
8. No personal items or food are permitted during the encounter with the exception of still cameras.
9. The Komodo Dragon can be patted on the back only; please do not touch their heads, faces or any other body parts.
10. Australia Zoo does not take any responsibility for any injuries that are received. First Aid will be called if required.
11. An Australia Zoo photographer will be present during the encounter to capture the action. All photos will be available for viewing and purchase from the Fuji Photography lab.
12. $100 non-refundable deposit must be received on booking (Credit Card/Money Order).
13. The Komodo Encounter is subject to weather conditions. The encounter may be rescheduled for later that day or the next available date, at the handler's discretion or a refund given.
14. After we have received the deposit you will receive a confirmation via email/post. Make sure both parties knows and agrees to these T's & C's and then send it back to us as least 1 week before the encounter.
15. Patrons must be at the Croc Lair by 8:20am.
