
Incredible Iguana Encounter
Fans of all things cold-blooded will LOVE this one! Our Incredible Iguanas at Australia Zoo are finally making their way into the spotlight with their own Hands-on Animal Encounter. Have your photo taken with an iguana sitting on your shoulder, and get to know this gorgeous and fascinating reptile up close and personal. Reptiles RULE!
Timing and Days
- One Iguana encounter is held daily.
- Open age, however, only children 8 years and above will be able to have iguana on their arm/shoulder. The younger children will be able to pat and feed them
- 6 people per day
Bookings
- Bookings need to be made at the Information Desk by 12.30pm on the day of the encounter.
Extras
- A professional photographer will take photos of your encounter. These photos are available for purchase from our photography lab 30 minutes after completion.

Terms and Conditions
- Parents or adult guardians must take responsibility for participating children at ALL TIMES
- As these experiences form part of the iguanas' enrichment program, it will not be a formal session
- All participants must agree to follow all instructions given by the handlers
- Participants may be asked to leave the enclosure at any time during the encounter for whatever reason at the handlers' discretion
- Please ensure that you wash your hands both before and after the encounter
- No personal items or food are permitted during the experience, with the exception of cameras and video cameras. Any excess items can be stored at the information counter for the duration of your encounter
- Do not under any circumstances attempt to roughly handle the iguana.
- Australia Zoo does not take any responsibility for any injuries that are received during the experience, including bites. First Aid will be called if required
- An Australia Zoo photographer will be present during the experience to capture the action. Photos can be viewed and purchased from the Fujifilm Photography Lab
