What a ripper! Get face-to-face with a two- tonne rhino in a rare Ripper Rhino encounter! Scratch, pat and experience our amazing White Rhinos in their off-display paddocks right here at Australia Zoo. Chat to the keepers about the rhino boys and learn all about this awesome endangered species.

Get your photo taken with the rhinos by our professional photographer and receive a take-home photo souvenir. You will also enjoy a sneak peak at Australia Zoo's expansion plans as you are taken behind-the-scenes through areas not yet open to the public.

Package Details

Timing and Days

• One Rhino encounter is held daily.
• There are only 6 spaces available per encounter.
• Patrons need to sign in at the Information and Tour Desk by 1pm on the day of the encounter.

Bookings

• Bookings need to be made at the Information Desk by 1.00pm on the day of the encounter.
• Pre-bookings can be made prior to your visit by calling Australia Zoo Tour Desk on 5436 2002 or email guestservices@australiazoo.com.au to ensure your place as there are limited spaces daily.
• Children 14yrs and under must be accompanied by a paying adult.

Extras

• A professional photographer will take photos of your encounter. These photos are available for purchase from our photography lab 30 minutes after completion.
• Includes one 6x4 photograph.

Terms and Conditions

1. Rhino Encounters are available to all aged participants. All children 14yrs and under must be accompanied by a paying adult.
2. Closed in shoes must be worn at all times during the encounter.
3. All participants must agree to follow all instructions given by the handlers at all times. Participants may be asked to cease the encounter at any time for whatever reason at the handler’s discretion.
4. Please ensure that your hands are clean prior to beginning the encounter.
5. No personal items or food are permitted during the encounter with the exception of cameras.
6. This will be an informal session and interaction with the Rhino may vary.
7. Australia Zoo does not take any responsibility for any injuries that are received, including scratches and bites. First Aid will be called if required.
8. An Australia Zoo photographer will be present during the encounter to capture the action. Photos taken will be available for purchase from the Fuji Photography lab. (One photo is included in the cost of encounter.)
9. The Rhino Encounter may be cancelled if weather is bad and a refund given.
10. Australia Zoo reserves the right to cancel the encounter due to an animal welfare or staffing issue. A full refund will be issued. We will endeavour to contact pre-booked guests before they arrive at the zoo if this should happen.
