Crikey! Australia Zoo's two newest stars, cheetah cubs William and Josh, celebrated their first birthdays yesterday (Josh) and today (William).
They started their special day by getting stuck into an enrichment session with one of their favourite toys, playing with a cordial bottle on a rope with rocks in it; William and Josh absolutely love their toy sessions!
After that they were taken on an exciting walk through the back of the Zoo, where they were allowed to explore to their heart's content, before heading over to our African savannah for visitors to see.
Naturally their keepers found the time to sing "Happy Birthday" to them while they rounded off their day by enjoying their favourite treat, a yummy tuna ice-block. Wooo-hoo!
The brother cubs were born in captivity and held in a Cheetah Centre in De Wildt, South Africa until they moved to Australia Zoo in February 2012. "Our two new cheetahs have settled in nicely at Australia Zoo and it is great to welcome them into our family as Ambassador Cats to help continue educating the public about the plight of the cheetah" said Australia Zoo's curator, Kelsey Mostyn.
