Like many co-habiting couples coping with an arranged marriage, Terra, one of Australia Zoo's most beautiful female crocodiles, does not yet seem totally happy to share her blankets with her potential mate, Bosco!
Terra moved in with Bosco late last year to provide a more natural setting for the pair, providing stimulation and good company to one another.
"We thought Terra and Bosco would be a perfect couple, and they have been getting along really well, to the point where Terra started nesting this season, and Bosco would often sit by to keep her company," said Josh Ruffell, Australia Zoo reptiles curator.
He said the couple's sunny enclosure should be an ideal love nest as it features a spa perfect for reptilian relaxation but, while the relationship is progressing well, Terra and Bosco need to be very comfortable with one another to share their cosy spa.
"The crocs aren't quite at that point in their living arrangements just yet, so we've moved Terra off-display for winter," Josh said. "We're thinking that absence will make the heart grow fonder, so she will be reunited with Bosco in spring and hopefully they'll be even closer by next season."
It took the combined efforts of ten croc keepers to move the three metre long, one hundred kilogram saltwater crocodile to a warm off-display enclosure.
Josh said that Terra arrived at Australia Zoo several years ago from Queensland Parks & Wildlife. "She is one of our most beautiful girls, with her light colouration making her quite unique."

It would be so nice for Australia Zoo to continue Steve's TV show. Call it something like...The Crocodile Hunter's Friends. I so miss seeing Terri, Bindi, Robert, Bob, Briano, Kelsey, Wes, Jody and so many others that we got used to seeing w/ Steve & Terri's show. If you don't want to have a weekly show, you could do a monthly one. COME ON GUYS...we need another Australia Zoo show!! Watching reruns on TV is great, but we're missing so much that has been done since Steve has been gone !! COME ON TERRI !! Please continue the TV show...doesn't have to be exactly the same, but something to let us see what all has been accomplished & is ongoing @ Australia Zoo. Especially since I'll never be able to visit your wonderful country & see it first hand. Love to all @ Australia Zoo.

They all have their own, individual personalities as our Steve use to say. Arranged marriages don't always work out and the course of true love doesn't always run smooth. These little snippets of information make the magnificent crocs even more endearing and remind us that they are so, so much more than mere 'killing machines'.
