Facilities Maintenance Manager - Full-Time

Department: Building Services

Australia Zoo has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Facilities Maintenance Manager to join the Building Services team on a Full-Time basis.


As the Facilities Maintenance Manager, you will have primary responsibility for the procedures and policies of the Building Services Department. The Facilities Maintenance Manager will ensure that operational systems are in place for the facilities & services being coordinated and conducted by the Zoo's maintenance team. The Building Services team at Australia Zoo continually work towards maintaining and providing improved facilities for the animals and the visitors. They do this with enthusiasm and motivation towards their individual learning and training.


Duties Include:

  • Consult with Senior Management to fulfil planned projects in liaison with all relevant departments
  • Direct the formulation of maintenance management strategies, policies and plans
  • Assist to develop and apply training and development programs for Maintenance staff on ongoing basis in conjunction with performance review recommendation and outcomes
  • Oversee the planning, development and construction of facilities
  • Oversee the cleaning and maintenance of facilities
  • Monitor and liaise with external contractors as required
  • Regularly liaise with leading hands of associated areas to ensure smooth role out and coordination of projects (artwork, landscaping, animal sections)
  • Source quotes for building services projects in coordination with the purchasing officer


Essential Criteria:

  • Current building license
  • Construction card (Current)
  • Be highly organized and have previous experience in managing a team
  • Have a solid understanding of the building codes and regulations, as well the building process
  • Have a clear understanding of the current WHS requirements
  • Excellent communication and reporting abilities
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in building/construction industry
  • Hold current Driver's Licence (Manual) and own transport
  • Available to work weekends & public holidays (as required) and school holiday periods
  • Demonstrated desire and passion for the industry
  • Must have a suitable level of fitness & well being to safely perform the duties
